The ascent of automated packaging technology is transforming operations and improving business efficiency. This year, Duo advances further, broadening its product spectrum with advanced auto-bagging polythene films, encompassing shrink and stretch variants. These transformative innovations cater to a diverse range of sectors, including non-food contact applications and garment fulfilment operations.
Dale Brimelow, Duo’s Operations Director, elaborates on the rationale behind investing in products specifically for automated packing technology:
Q: Efficiency is vital for businesses. Can you shed light on the specialised film blends developed for this application?
A: Efficiency reigns supreme in every operation and businesses are investing in automated packing machinery to make further enhancements. We’ve developed a polythene film blend specifically tailored for this purpose, focusing on slip levels and heat sealing properties to optimize automated packing machines performance.
Q: Are there any challenges customers face when adopting automated packing machinery?
A: Many clients are searching for a local supplier of their polythene film for their automated packing machinery. The reasons include reduced lead times and a greener supply chain. Duo bridges this gap by manufacturing this product in the UK.
Q: What are the key considerations when choosing a manufacturing partner for auto bagging film or fan fold bags?
A: Look for a local supplier who can offer a quick turnaround therefore enabling you to reduce your stock volume. In addition to this, Duo helps clients contribute to a circular economy for plastics by offering a closed loop recycling solution for the plastic waste generated by some automated packing machinery. The plastic waste is collected and recycled by Duclo Recycling.
Q: Future investments in automation?
A: Absolutely. The automated packing industry’s projected worth is£700m by 2027 so we plan to increase our capacity for auto-bagging film and fan-fold products.
